Conveniently located 7km from Worcester on the R60 wine route, Overhex Bistro promises to delight their visitor’s taste buds with mouth-watering food, quality wines and locally sourced craft beers.

Overhex Wines International is home to the Balance and Survivor wines. Not only is this a trendy restaurant but also a full working winery, delivering export wines that have raked in several awards over the last few years. Amongst these awards are Michelangelo International Awards, Veritas Awards as well as Top 100 South African Wines produced by their internationally acclaimed wine making team.

The wine cellar is located next to the R60 on the Worcester Wine and Olive Route and provides by passers with a wine tasting experience, breakfast, light lunches and a wine and food pairing at their Overhex Bistro restaurant.

The R60 leads from Worcester to Robertson which also boasts a wide selection of activities, restaurants and accommodation, rich with heritage and events like the Wacky Wine festival.

Firstly, the restaurant is child friendly with large lush lawn and a playpark for children as well as an indoor playing area. The restaurant also offer kiddies parties.

The restaurant is contemporary decorated which fits in perfectly with the Western Cape’s artistic and chic wine estate flair.

A helpful assistant at the reception/wine tasting desk is eagerly waiting to give more information on the winery and surrounding areas as well as helping visitors who would like to purchase some of their wines.

The overall impression of the restaurant is relaxed, yet the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff aligns with our well-known South African hospitality. We all know that a smile goes a long way and this restaurant is all about friendly staff.

Guests can relish in a delectable selection of burgers, steaks, pizza, vegetarian meals and much more. One of my favourite items on their menu is the artisan pizzas. The calm and serene surroundings are a treasure for all to experience. The reason for my selection of the pizzas is surely influenced with the pizza oven located in the middle of the restaurant as this creates a comfortable atmosphere while a friendly chef is preparing your meal.

The average cost for lunch is in the range of R100 per person. Their TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 / 5, with only 36 reviews shows that the restaurant is on the right track and has something unique to offer their guests.

I honestly didn’t have any negative experience of this restaurant and highly advise everyone visit this gem in the heart of the winelands. Free Wi-Fi is also available to all guests.
